Therapy

Do you hear yourself making promises that you will make changes and then do you hear yourself putting it off? giving reasons to avoid thinking and doing things differently, making excuses, getting in your own way. This is common for many people, almost scared of their own success, this is called self sabotage.

As we get older we sometimes think we don't need this support and encouragement from anyone, we are all grown up now! But sometimes events and experiences make us feel a bit wobbly to go out there and try and do or think of something differently. Once you realise your strength and ability to make changes it will be like acquiring another tool to tackle any obstacles in your way.

If you can think back to when you first learnt to ride a bike or drive a car, at first you needed to take each step with the support of someone at your side to help and encourage you. Eventually, with your experience and motivation came confidence and you were able to achieve the end goal, freedom to ride or drive all by yourself came naturally, it is the same experience entering into therapy.

Don't let your life be driven by fears or negative beliefs, rid yourself of habits and addictions that are keeping you a prisoner. If you have been experiencing emotional difficulties this will lead to stress and anxiety, rid yourself of these self consuming feelings.

Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, which when emotions are healed you put yourself into a strong position of letting go of those limiting beliefs and feelings.

Marnie specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) this form of therapy is recognised by the Government as an evidence-based form of therapy which enables an individual to take control of their thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Putting them back in the driving seat, giving them back their independence so they no longer need to rely on crutches i.e. anti-depressants, drugs, alcohol etc. Constant monitoring and adjustment of goals will enable the client to move forward in their therapy at a pace they feel comfortable with, goals are not set in stone, these may change during therapy as the client wishes.

Hypnotherapy may be used in conjunction with CBT which has a powerful way of reinforcing and helping new thoughts, emotions and behaviour become habitual (second nature), an almost cementing affect.

If you try and think of your mind like your body, just because you can't see your mind does not mean we should not look after it. We think about what nutrition we have to keep us physically fit i.e. vitamins, minerals and exercise but we don't tend to think about what we feed our mind i.e. thoughts and beliefs. If we could think the same way about our minds and only feed it good thoughts and took time to switch our minds off, give it a rest, i.e. hypnosis, it would be much more efficient and focussed. If our mind is not healthy and functioning to its best then usually we find that our body starts to show signs that all is not well, i.e. our posture maybe slumped, we may start to gain weight or lose weight or become, listless etc. The two need to be looked after in tandem, mind and body.
